Disaster Recovery

Disaster Recovery & Data Backup
Backing up your data to minimise the impact of a disaster is one of the most critical aspects of any IT management strategy, but often it isn't treated as such. We have the insight and experience to help your organisation determine the best approach towards disaster recovery that will balance the cost of an effective strategy with the likelihood and potential impact of a disaster. Our experience in determining strategies for a variety of clients, enables us to outline some of the more important areas of defining and implementing an effective disaster recovery strategy, with which we can help:

Planning & Procedures
A key aspect of a good disaster recovery strategy is a plan that identifies potential risks, their likelihood of occurring and activities that will reduce their impact on operations if they do occur. However, identifying risks is not enough. It is also important to document, and periodically test, those actions that should be taken in the event of a disaster in order to bring your organisation back to operational status quickly and efficiently.

Data Backups
The most obvious aspect of any disaster recovery strategy and often the best place to start, is to ensure that you have an effective data backup process. We can help you to select the right combination of hardware, media and rotation schemes and then configuring the backups to work reliably. Once your data backups occur on a regular schedule, we can assist you with monitoring and verifying that they are working correctly, either on an ad hoc basis or as part of a maintenance contract.

Offsite Data Storage
Making regular backups can reduce the risk of losing data in the event of disaster, but what if your backup data is also lost? The solution is for your organisation to store copies of backups at a secure location, so that the risk of loss or damage is minimised. We have a secure fireproof safe on our premises that can be used for client's offsite data storage.Charges are based upon check ins, check outs and length of storage of media. Data & Equipment Mirrors
If your IT infrastructure is critical to your operations, you may want to consider storing a mirrored copy of your data or key equipment at an offsite location. Depending on your requirements we can house mirrored configuration of your full network server or just your hard drive in our computer room.
