IT Management

Management Control
IT infrastructure is a key asset for any organisation and critical to operation. It is therefore, important that management control is retained when outsourcing of IT requirements takes place. We address these concerns with our approach in a number of ways:

Routine network management and maintenance is normally a resource intensive activity.
Diagnosing and resolving minor issues, installing software upgrades, maintaining virus protection databases, etc.  We use and recommend automated network management tools that drastically reduce the amount of effort required to diagnose network and client PC problems, deploy software to any node on the network and automate hardware & software inventory. Once these tools are installed and configured at your site, they will result in vastly improved network management capability, reduced response times and cost savings.
  • Planning. As part of our IT management service we will construct a detailed project plan for all activities. This will keep you informed of our progress and can be used in review meetings to ensure that we are working on the activities that you see as most important.
  • Issue Tracking. We use a sophisticated issuetracking tool for all support issues reported to us. Using this tool, we track how long it takes us to respond to and resolve problems.  We also have an interface to this tool available through the support area on our web site.
  • Regular reviews. We will meet with your management team as regularly as you require (monthly is typical) to review the plan, issues raised and our performance since the previous meeting. Any concerns you have will be discussed and an action plan produced to address them.
  • Documentation. A key aspect of our IT management service is that we will focus on documenting all critical IT procedures and configuration. This not only reduces your longterm dependence on us, but also creates a valuable asset for your organisation that will meet existing and potential quality accreditation requirements.
  • Skills Transfer. If you have an existing IT department that we are complementing or existing IT support staff, we will work closely with them to increase their knowledge and capability with respect to the projects we are involved in. Again, this reduces your dependence upon us and also maximises efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Network Management
Further, once these tools are in place, we can offer remote support to your organisation, either to complement your existing IT department, or as part of on overall support package.  Our remote support approach typically involves the configuration of network management tools, an Internet firewall and a secure VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection over the Internet.
This configuration will allow us to connect to your network as required and perform the majority of network support activities.  A key benefit of this approach is the automated software deployment capability of these tools. From virus database updates and newly released security packages to major upgrades, we are able to reliably and efficiently deploy software to any node on your network in an automated manner. The cost savings and service level improvements of this approach are significant.
